Situated on historic Castle Street within a Grade II Listed building the process of creating Gail’s latest outpost came close to an archaeological dig. Original timber beams laid in the wall formed niches and nooks in which we laid beautiful brass lined bread racks. The site had formerly been a jewellery shop for many years and we paid homage to the original frontage and proportions at the front in using locally sourced lighting and relaying the original floorboards in a shallow centrally parted chevron. The bright bakery at the front flowed in to the working bakery and a classic canteen dining room at the rear with ash furniture and bold pinstripe flooring.
